Call it obsessive behavior, but I create a list for every thing that I do. I have check lists at work, for grocery shopping and for just about any activity I get involved with. Moving is a huge ordeal for someone like me, so I have created just about the most thoroughly well thought out moving check list ever created by man kind. Well, maybe not quite that thorough, but my moving check list accounts for just about anything that might need to happen as my family moves cross town. You might wonder what items might rest on my moving check list, and the answer is, everything. From the removal of my fancy fluorescent light bulbs to the vacuuming of floors, every thing that could possibly need to be done lives on my moving check list.
A lot of the moving check list accounts for actions we will need to take in order to settle in nicely at the new place. There was no way a guy like me can survive even a day without internet service, so one of the items on my moving check list was to make sure the internet connection was up and running the day we moved in. We also wanted to make sure all of our stuff was moved along with us, so I added pretty much every important item that was moving into the new place to the moving check list. There were some items that were going to be put in storage for a while until I get my garage built, so they are on a subcategory of my moving check list, items that are not going to come along with us but still need to be accounted for. Having a moving check list has made the move from apartment to house much easier than it might have been had we struggled to account for all the details, so it is a good thing I am so detail oriented!
